In the studio...
I have been hard at work in the studio recording my debut kids album! I have over 20 originals the promise to be rockin' and easy on the parents ear!
My friend Kelly Harnet (also my wonderful producer/engineer) has been helping me lay down all of the tracks with a wonderful group of guys I wish I could say is exclusively MY band... however they are busy, busy musicians and law school grads so I guess I'll have to share em'.
Ben Whetsell : Bass and keyboard &
arrangements
Ben Elkin- Electric Guitar
Brad Levy- Piano and keyboard
Harris Cohen : drums and percussion
Joanie Leeds: Acoustic Guitar, vocals
Stay Tuned for more info on the release and grown
up gigs!

Hello Everyone!
Well, there are a lot of exciting things in store over the next few
months. Singer/Songwriter Jody Aaron, (the artist formally known as
Jody Friedman) and I have gotten together and started to co-write.
The first song is about (you'll never guess)... DOGS. Pretty funny
tune. In honor of our new found co-writership, we have booked a few
gigs together at Arlene's Grocery (Dec 11th) and Sidewalk Cafe (Jan
10th)
But firstly, I booked a solo gig at a cool venue called Blaggards (Nov.
19th). Come and check me out as this gig depends on YOU to bring me to
the next round of their original artist showcase. In turn, I could play
at a bigger and snazier club. Also, don't miss me backing up
Arden Kaywin at The Living Room on Nov. 18th. She
is an old
friend of mine from Miami, Fla! It's going to be an exciting few months
ahead and I can't wait to see all of your beautiful faces there!
October 2, 2005

Hi Everyone!
"Where the heck have you been this year" you ask? Well, this Miami girl dislikes the cold weather, so I have been hibernating for the winter writing some new songs to debut this spring. Hopefully I will have some gigs lined up too! After leaving the corporate world for good last month (thank goodness), I have been teaching music to little kids and looking for other legal ways to pay the rent. Lets just say that 2005 started off a lot different than expected but hopefully I will get some songs out of the experience.
I finally got the completed product for the 'Buy Indie Music' compilation CD. My song 'Bad Girl' was among the 14 chosen to be chosen for the disk. Just look for the picture of the girl pulling down her shorts on the cover (No that was not my choice of cover art!) and you've found it.
You can now find and purchase my songs on iTunes If you are really into iTunes like i am, you can add my songs to some iMix lists so more people can find out about Joanie Leeds!
Also, I have my own brand spankin' new MYSPACE page that you can find at: http://www.myspace.com/joanieleeds.You can read my bio, listen to songs and even create a blog about my songs. Spread the word!
Check out my gig page to see every venue I have ever played in the gig archive. Stay tuned for more news and events!
Always,
Joanie Leeds
Hi!
A huge thanks to everyone who came out to see me play in Nashville,
Miami, Boston and New York over the summer. I had a fantastic time
traveling and met some fantastic people along the way. The CD has been
selling very well thanks to you putting the word out, so I
can’t
be happier. The Poughkeepsie live show was incredible. I just got the
tape back of the live performance, and it’s definitely weird
to
see a whole show just about me, but it’s cool at the same
time!
Thanks Raj at TWC for making that happen!
I’ve also gotten some really good news from the 12th Annual
Billboard World Song Contest. Out of thousands of submissions, my song
‘Breathe’ was ranked among the top 500 songs in the
competition, making me the recipient of a prestigious Honorable Mention
Award.
Come join me October 22nd for my annual Birthday Gig...

Hey Folks!
July was such a fantastic month. The Miami gigs were so much fun to
play, as was my radio interview with WLRN. I sang in my first
Songwriters Circle at The Bitter End with some other amazing artists,
and July 21st wrapped up my last gig for the month at the Cornelia
Street Cafe. Next month I will be taking it a bit easier. I will be
moving across town and have a few out of town weddings (One of which
I'll be singing my new song "I DO"), so I will be back playing
hopefully in September.
But even though there will not be a lot of gigs, some great things are
happening for my song "Bad Girl"!
Black Dog Promotions announced that its newly formed record label, Buy
Indie Music, has selected 14 artists to be included in the Buy Indie
Music Compilation- Volume 2. The compilations are going to be
distributed to radio, press, retail and record labels.
My song "BAD GIRL" was among the 14 chosen!!!
Also, "BAD GIRL", was just selected to go on the Oasis Pop compilation
which will also be sent out to radio stations. I will soon have a list
of stations to call if you would like to request my music!!
Also, if you would like to read my review that was printed in The Miami
New Times newspaper, please click on this link:

See you soon!
Always, Joanie
July 11, 2004
Hi Everyone!
I am finally back from my Miami trip! I must say the hospitality was
more than I could have ever imagined. Besides the beautiful beaches,
and ocean air... I felt right at home with the amazing fans, friends,
and family who supported me by tuning in to my radio interview on WLRN,
and by coming out to my gigs at the Luna Star Cafe and the Wallflower
Gallery.
Now that I am back up north, I will encounter a smooth transition back
into the NYC music scene. I am excited to tell you about my next gig:
To be a part of The New York Songwriters Circle is a great honor.
Featuring past performing songwriters such as Norah Jones, Vanessa
Carlton, Gavin DeGraw, Lisa Loeb and Nelly McKay to name a few, this is
an event I have been looking forward to for a long time!
Please come and see me play a few songs in the round with some other
great songwriters: Zack, Joey Eppard, and Ben Butler/Ann Marie.
Also, to read my most recent review from this weeks Miami New Times
newspaper, please click on this link:

A sort of homecoming is on the way for me in July -- I'll be in my
hometown of Miami, FL for a couple shows and an appearance on a very
cool public radio show.
If you're in the area, check out the gigs
page for more information on the shows.
On July 9 at 1pm, I'll be on the cultural arts radio program South
Florida Arts Beat (SFAB)
for an interview and to play some tracks from my
new album.
Tune in! In South East Florida (Jupiter to Key West), you can hear it
on WLRN 91.3 FM. Everywhere else in the world, you can get it on the
internet at www.wlrn.org
Also, my song "Bad Girl" has just been chosen for the second Buy Indie
Music compilation CD. Check out http://www.buyindiemusic.com/compilation2.htm

Hi Everyone!!!
It has been such a whirlwind since my March CD Release of “Soul from my Footsteps” at The Bitter End. I have received such an amazing response! Its been a steady stream of booking new, cool gigs at places like famous Rock club CBGBs Gallery last month, to Boston's’ Club Passim this month for their Annual Memorial Day Campfire Weekend, and The Bitter End's prestigious “Songwriters' Circle” this summer.
A Miami Florida CD Release is in the works for the beginning of July, so stay tuned! Some other big news: I will be moving to California this July. Yes, you heard right! I am going to test out the water in La La land, get some sun, and try the LA music scene. Don't fret though... I will be coming back now and then to play east coast gigs so keep an eye on the e mails. I will miss you all very much!
Make sure to check out my new album www.cdbaby.com/joanieleeds2
