Party Planning 101:

For new parents or even the most experienced, it can be overwhelming making all the decisions for your child's party. Here are some ideas and tips about how and where to host the big event:

To have the best party possible...
1)  Select an area free of toys and other distractions which is                large enough for the kids to boogie on down.
2)  Grownups- SHHHHHH! The kids will enjoy themselves so            much more if you are participating rather than talking.
3)  Please no food during the performance. My show is an                     interactive performance not to mention, it's a choking                  hazard. Lets keep our kids safe!
4) For "Amped up" packages, I will need to be near a three                     prong outlet. Acoustic parties, two prong is A-OK. I will              bring a 6 foot extension cord just in case.

Where to host your party:
An Apartment
: You can easily have your child's party in your very own apartment. The best way to do it would be to decide which room can create the biggest open space for the children to sit. Making name place cards to scatter on the floor for older children is always a great idea. It will not only allow me to call the children by their individual names but also allowing them to sit on their own personal seat. I can bring a variety of supplies with me that are thoroughly cleaned after each party and my guitar and I don't take up a lot of space. It's a wonderful intimate setting with low cost to you!

The Park: Central Park, Riverside, Madison Park, Battery.... You name it and claim it! Get to your spot early and throw out a big blanket. Perfect for a Spring, Summer or Fall party! For big bashes, a permit may be required. Call the parks dept just to make sure. They are inexpensive.

Roof Decks, Community Rooms, Health Clubs: If you or anyone you know has access to a community room or a rooftop deck this is a perfect place for a party. Some buildings charge and others don't depending on the hours of your party.

A Restaurant: Many of your favorite restaurants probably allow parties during slow hours (kid friendly hours). Many of them don't charge so long as you also order food. Restaurants with separate back rooms are preferred but definitely not necessary.

Private Clubs and Hotels: Many private clubs and hotels in Manhattan will rent you space at a fee. (i.e. Manhattan Club)

Rehearsal Spaces
I just performed at a great big rehearsal space that by Manhattan standards is a total bargain...Ripley-Grier Studios has a few different locations and rooms to choose from:

Nursery and Preschools: Depending on the school, your child's school may rent out a room for a fee (i.e JCC, 92nd Sreet Y)
