“Chorus” Come and see the animals at the Central park zoo. There’s so much for us to see and do.
City animals are wise and so they alphabetize:
The animals at the Central park zoo.
And I see; Alligators, bats and chimpanzees
Ducks and elephants, fox and geese.
Hippopotamus, iguana’s and jackrabbits too
The animals at the central park zoo.
I see kangaroos and lions and monkeys there.
Nile crocodile, otters and polar bear.
Quail and roosters and snakes to view.
The animals at the central park zoo
Tortoise and turtles but no unicorns.
Vipers and vultures wolves and worms.
Xenarthrans, yaks and zebras too. The animals at the central park zoo. “Chorus”
My students made me well aware that all of these animals in the song aren’t actually at the Central Park Zoo. Thus began a long discussion about artistic liberty! Also, finding an “x” animal was next to impossible. Did you know that armadillos, sloth, and anteaters belong to the Order “Xenarthra”?
